How can I set up a litter pick?
Want to get stuck in litter picking in Cornwall? You can arrange a litter pick by using the registration form on our website: https://www.cleancornwall.org/litter-picks.
This form only takes a few minutes to complete. By registering your litter pick at least 7 days in advance, you will be able to:
Loan litter picking equipment including litter pickers, bag hoops, hi-vis vests, gloves and bags
Advertise and recruit for your litter pick on our website
Arrange for litter collection
Access public liability insurance
Send in your statistics to help us track and trace litter across Cornwall
This whole service is completely free and we are happy to help if you are looking for any guidance on how to organise a litter picking event, just head to the Contact Us page and drop us a message. This service only applies to litter picks taking place in Cornwall.
When do I have to plan a litter pick by?
1. You can register a litter pick on the same day if you are simply recording your activity and do not need equipment or waste collection.
2. If you would like the litter collected but do not need to borrow equipment, you can register 2 working days before your pick.
3. If you would like to borrow equipment, you will need to register 7 days in advance. This ensures everything arrives at your chosen Biffa depot in time.

Check the event details to get involved, most regular litter picking groups will have spare equipment for you to use, so no need to worry if you don’t have your own. Get in touch with the group organisers if you are unsure of any details. Don’t be nervous to join a new group, the litter picking community is full of open-minded, inspiring people and it is a fantastic way to get active and socialise for all ages.
What do I do with the litter once I’ve completed the litter pick?
If you register your litter pick using the form on our website: https://www.cleancornwall.org/litter-picks, you can request for Biffa to collect the litter post-pick at your chosen location (please note that Biffa will not collect from private land). We advise that you sort your litter as best as possible into categories, making sure not to mix disposable vapes or other hazardous waste with general waste to avoid creating a health hazard. Please recycle where possible.
Can I register a litter pick as an individual?
Yes, you can register a litter pick as an individual using the same form on our litter picks page: https://www.cleancornwall.org/litter-picks. Individuals can still apply to loan equipment and have litter collected post pick! No group? No problem.
How can I find people to litter pick with?
You can connect with other litter pickers and groups on our Cornwall Litter Pickers Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/395352349360480.
Anyone can join, and the more members we have, the better! You can see what other groups are up to, and put out feelers for people in your area. You can also look for your town’s community Facebook Group to find like minded people and litter hotspots near you.
