Pubs as Hubs

Making it easier for everyone to take positive action

Sometimes the simplest ideas can have the biggest impact.

Pubs as Hubs is a community initiative that makes litter picking equipment available in everyday places, helping more people take small actions that collectively make a big difference.

By placing litter picking kits in pubs, cafés, community venues and other accessible locations, we are making it easier for residents and visitors to borrow equipment and help care for the places they live, work and visit.

Whether it's a planned litter pick, a quick clean-up while out for a walk, or a few minutes spent collecting litter with friends and family, Pubs as Hubs helps remove barriers to participation and encourages more people to get involved.

Each hub is equipped with litter pickers, bags and other essential equipment, creating a convenient community resource that can be used throughout the year. The scheme also helps strengthen connections between local businesses, community groups and volunteers, creating shared pride in local places.

The project builds on the idea that community spaces are often at the heart of local life. By working with trusted venues, we can reach more people, encourage positive behaviour and make environmental action part of everyday life.

Pubs as Hubs kits are now being distributed across Cornwall, with equipment already available in locations including community venues, cafés, pubs and local organisations. As the network grows, more people will have the opportunity to take part in keeping their local area clean and welcoming.

If you know of a pub, café or community space that could host a Pubs as Hubs kit, we'd love to hear from you.
