New community litter picking hubs launched in St Ives
01.05.26
We're delighted to announce that St Ives is now home to two new community litter picking hubs, making it even easier for people to get involved in caring for their local environment.
Thanks to the support of the local community, litter picking equipment can now be borrowed from both the Royal British Legion and the Tregenna Hill Co-op. The new hubs provide free access to equipment for residents, visitors, schools, community groups and families who would like to take positive action to help keep St Ives clean and cared for.
The hubs form part of Clean Cornwall's new Pubs as Hubs initiative, which aims to place litter picking equipment in trusted, accessible community locations across Cornwall. By making equipment readily available, the scheme helps remove barriers to volunteering and encourages more people to take part, whether that's organising a planned litter pick or simply borrowing a picker and bag while out for a walk.
Community litter picking continues to play an important role in protecting Cornwall's towns, villages and coastline, while helping people connect with their local area and each other.
A huge thank you to the Royal British Legion and Tregenna Hill Co-op for supporting this initiative and helping make litter picking more accessible across St Ives.
We would also like to thank Beach Guardian for their generous donation of equipment, and Cornwall National Landscape for providing essential funding to help make the project possible.
If you would like to borrow equipment, host a litter picking hub in your community, or find out more about community litter picking in Cornwall, please get in touch with the Clean Cornwall team.
