Clean Cornwall Week - Now a Bi-Annual Event!

Fuelled by an anti-litter passion and equipped with rubber gloves and high-viz vests the Clean Cornwall army of litter-picking volunteers is once again descending on Cornwall to rid it of unsightly rubbish.

Hundreds of willing volunteers were recruited to the campaign in its introductory year in 2007 and it was bigger and better for its second year with not one, but two Clean Cornwall Weeks. Year 3  was just as successful with the first ever Clean Cornwall Summit taking place at the Eden project.  This year is set to be even bigger and better, and we are looking to exceed the 260 events that took place last time.

The second countywide spring clean this year is due to be held on the 18th until the 26th September.

During the two Clean Cornwall Weeks no discarded crisp packet or washed up piece of fishing net will be safe from the Clean Cornwall volunteers who will be collecting tons of rubbish at litter-picks across the county. Beaches, towns, countryside and roads are all on the hit-list and it is hoped that the weeks will result in Cornwall becoming one of the cleanest counties in the country.

A group of private and public sector business with a shared love of Cornwall and a drive to maintain its beauty are the inspiration behind Clean Cornwall Week and they are keen to get as many people involved as possible.

Teresa Timms, of VisitCornwall, a key Clean Cornwall partner calls for your help: "Cornwall is a special place and we want to keep it that way, if everyone spared a few hours to join a litter-pick think of the difference that we could make. Join an event taking place in your area or why not arrange your own – pull together a group of friends, get out there and make a difference!"

A calendar of events for the March events will be available nearer the time at the right of this page.  Feel free to look to the right to find some useful health and safety advice, hints and tips and other interesting information in the new litter 'e' pack which may help you when organising your own event.  There are even posters for you to download to help promote what you are doing!

  • We now have certificates available for all who take part in your event, which are available to the right of this page !!
  • A fun and interesting powerpoint presentation is now available to the right for you to use in your school assembly to raise litter awareness to the younger members of our community - Enjoy!

We have a target of 300 litter-pick events so if you are planning your own please let us know!
